Grand Opening of Advanced Electrolyte Technologies (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd

On March 18, 2013, Advanced Electrolyte Technologies (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd (“AET ZJG”) held a grand opening ceremony at the Zhangjiagang Huafang Jinling Hotel announcing the start of its new manufacturing facility. The event was attended by Zhangjiagang city leaders and representatives of AET (ZJG), Advanced Electrolyte Technologies LLC, and its parent companies. AET (ZJG’s) smooth start of the facility, with an annual output of 5,000 tons of lithium battery electrolyte, marks a new milestone in the development of a new energy industry chain in Zhangjiagang,Jiangsu. Lithium-ion batteries are a core product of this industry.
AET( ZJG) established in June 2012, is a 100% foreign-owned enterprise, registered in Zhangjianggang Chemical Industry Park by its’ parent company Advanced Electrolyte Technologies LLC from the United States. Advanced Electrolyte Technologies LLC (AET), is a 50-50 joint venture company of UBE Industries Ltd and the Dow Chemical Company. AET leverages the strengths of its parent companies to create formulated electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries. The first phase of the production capacity at the new Zhangjiagang facility reaches 5,000 tons, and the second phase of the project expands to 10,000 tons. AET (ZJG) will supply lithium-ion battery manufacturing companies in China and other Asian regions.
AET was formed to leverage the strengths of two global leaders into one customer-focused company that offers advanced lithium-ion battery technology. AET is focused on the development of the high-end electrolyte market, achieving a leading position in equipment and technology, production scale, technical level and global market share. The joint venture company combines Dow’s material science strength and global footprint with UBE’s expertise in electrolyte technology to enhance the performance of lithium-ion batteries. Parent company, UBE Industries Ltd possess the most high-end technology among its’ international counterparts, a technology already with a 25% global market share. AET has established strategic partnerships with international companies within the industry and will become a major global supplier of lithium-ion battery electrolyte and a domestic high-end lithium battery electrolyte manufacturing company.
In recent years, the lithium-ion battery industry is showing steady growth driven by the growth of electric vehicles, consumer products, and ESS. Lithium-ion batteries have higher energy and provide increased environmental protection. They have begun to fully replace the traditional lead-acid, nickel-metal hydride and nickel-cadmium batteries. Lithium-ion batteries will become the most important energy storage element in the era of low-carbon economy. The speed of the technological level of its development will directly affect the speed and quality of the new energy industry as a whole.
